The Giant Elephant and the Jumping Monkey
Deep inside the green, whispering jungle lived a giant elephant named Elmo. He was the biggest animal around. Tall as a tree, strong as a mountain, and gentle as the morning breeze.
Elmo loved his jungle. Every morning, he would stroll along the riverbank, waving his trunk like a happy tune. And when he got hungry — oh, he really got hungry! He used his long trunk to pull down branches filled with tender leaves.
“Crunch, crunch, crunch!” went the sound of Elmo’s big breakfast.
After eating, Elmo liked to walk lazily through the jungle, his heavy steps making a 'thump-thump-thump' sound that echoed through the trees. The birds would flutter up, and the butterflies would dance around him like tiny confetti.
He was happy — but a little lonely too. Being so big meant he couldn’t play with the smaller animals without scaring them by accident.
One sunny afternoon, as Elmo wandered near a grove of tall mango trees, he heard giggles and rustling above.
“Who’s up there?” Elmo asked, raising his trunk.
“Down here looks boring!” came a cheeky voice. “You should try swinging up here instead!”
Elmo tilted his head and saw a monkey leaping from one branch to another like a bouncing ball. His tail was long and curly, and his eyes sparkled with mischief.
“I’m Milo!” the monkey said proudly, landing gracefully on a branch. “And I’m the best jumper in the jungle!”
Elmo chuckled. “I’m Elmo. I don’t think I can jump like you, Milo. My legs are too heavy!”
Milo grinned. “Maybe not, but you look strong! I bet you can shake this whole tree if you try.”
Elmo laughed, and the two new friends talked for a long while. They soon discovered something funny — they both loved fruits!
“Bananas, mangoes, papayas — I love them all!” said Milo, patting his round belly.
“Me too,” said Elmo. “But I can only reach the ones that grow low. The sweetest fruits are always up high where I can’t reach!”
Milo’s eyes twinkled. “That’s easy! I can climb up and pick them for you.”
And so began their wonderful friendship.
Every morning, Elmo would walk through the jungle, carrying Milo gently on his back. They would stop near tall fruit trees, and Milo would climb, jump, and swing from branch to branch, tossing ripe fruits down to his big friend.
“Catch, Elmo!” Milo would shout, throwing down a juicy mango.
The Giant Elephant and the Jumping Monkey
“Got it!” Elmo would trumpet happily, his trunk swooping through the air.
When Milo got tired from jumping all day, Elmo would carry him on his back for a long, relaxing ride. The two of them would explore hidden corners of the jungle — waterfalls that sparkled like diamonds, flower fields buzzing with bees, and secret caves where the cool air smelled like rain.
And as the stars twinkled above, the giant elephant and the jumping monkey drifted into dreams of their next jungle safari together.
Moral of the Story: True friendship means using our strengths to help one another. Because everyone has something special to share.
