Rubi the Brave Pigeon
Deep inside a big, green jungle lived a kind pigeon named Rubi.
Rubi had a small nest high on a strong tree. Inside her cozy nest lived her two baby pigeons, Pip and Pop.
Every morning, Rubi would fly around the jungle, collecting food for her babies.
“Be good and stay inside the nest,” she would say before leaving.
“Yes, Mama!” chirped Pip and Pop together.
One sunny day, while Rubi was flying above the trees, she saw something scary — a hunter walking toward her tree!
He carried a big net and looked up, smiling cruelly.
“Oh no!” gasped Rubi. “He’s going to catch my babies!”
Without wasting a second, Rubi flapped her wings as fast as she could and rushed back to her nest.
“Pip! Pop! Wake up!” she cried. “We must fly — now!”
The little pigeons fluttered their wings nervously.
“But Mama, what’s wrong?” asked Pop.
“There’s no time to talk — we have to be brave!” Rubi said firmly.
Just as the hunter reached under the tree and started to throw his net, Rubi and her babies flew high into the sky!
The net fell on the empty nest. The hunter looked up, angry and surprised.
But Rubi and her babies were already safe, flying far away into the blue sky.
They landed on another tall tree, breathing fast but smiling.
Pip said softly, “Mama, you saved us!”
Rubi hugged them with her wings and said, “We saved each other, my darlings. Always listen, stay alert, and never give up.”
From that day on, Rubi built their new nest in a taller, safer tree — and every night she told Pip and Pop the story of how courage and quick thinking kept them safe.
Moral: Bravery and alertness can protect you from danger — stay wise and stay together.
